This huge city features a wide variety of gymnasiums and exercise facilities for those keen on fitness. Cycling and jogging are among the most popular ways for residents to stay fit and Atlanta East and the West End district are both excellent settings for outdoor exercise.

The facilities that were put in place when the city hosted the 1996 Summer Olympics have made Atlanta the sporting capital of the southern states. Southerners are big sports fans and there are all sorts of sporting events held year-round in this part of Georgia.

The city is home to professional teams in all four major American sports. The Atlanta Hawks pro basketball team and the Thrashers ice hockey team play their home games at Phillips Arena, a new facility located in downtown. The largest cable-supported arena in America, Georgia Dome is home to the Atlanta Falcons American football team, while the Braves baseball team calls Turner Field home.
